Connecting Claude
Give Claude Chat and Claude Cowork access to Popmelt
tl;dr Give Claude access to Popmelt via /connect or by adding a custom connector. Authorize via OAuth, and start chatting.
Before you begin
Make sure you have..
- Claude desktop app or website open - App available on macOS and Windows
- Claude Pro, Team, or Enterprise subscription (required for custom connectors like Popmelt)
- A Popmelt account - Create yours at popmelt.com
Step 1: Add Popmelt to Claude
Instant
Visit popmelt.com/app/connect, find Claude in the list, and click to open Claude's connector settings directly.
Manual
- Open the Claude desktop app or website
- Click your user avatar on the bottom left
- Select "Settings"
- Navigate to "Connectors"
Step 2: Add Popmelt Connector
- Click the "Add Connector" button
- Paste the Popmelt server URL:
https://mcp.popmelt.com - Name the connector "Popmelt"
- Click "Add"
🔒 Popmelt never reads or stores your chats. Claude will ask for permission before using Popmelt.
Step 3: Authorize Popmelt
- Once added, Popmelt will appear in your connector list
- Click "Connect" to authorize Claude's access to your Popmelt account
- Sign in to Popmelt if needed
- Click "Grant" to authorize Claude's access
- Return to Claude - you're connected!
Step 4: Start Chatting
Start a new conversation and ask Claude to Connect to Popmelt and show my available taste models to get a list of your models. Feel free to ask questions about any of them; Claude will take a look at their details and answer.

Troubleshooting
Claude isn't using Popmelt
Solutions:
- Explicitly mention Popmelt: "Use Popmelt to..."
- Check that the connector shows as connected in settings
- Start a new conversation
"Popmelt MCP tools are not available"
Solutions:
- Check your internet connection
- Navigate to Settings → Connectors and make sure Popmelt is connected
- Start a new conversation
- Re-authorize if prompted in chat
Custom Connectors Not Available
Solutions:
- Ensure you have Claude Pro, Team, or Enterprise subscription
- Update to the latest Claude desktop app version
Connector Authorization Fails
Solutions:
- Make sure you're logged into Popmelt in your browser
- Try removing and re-adding the connector
- Clear browser cookies and retry
Common Questions
Do I need Claude Pro?
Yes. Custom connectors like Popmelt require a paid Claude subscription.
Does Popmelt work in the Claude mobile app?
Yes. You'll need to add our connect via web or desktop, but once you do you can use Popmelt models on the go.
Can I use voice mode with Popmelt?
Yes. Describe what you want to create and tell Claude to use your desired Popmelt model to do it.
Is Claude different from Claude Code?
Yes and no! Claude Code is now available in the Desktop app, and these connection instructions will allow you to use Popmelt there as well.
